My Basic Radon Gas Test

What is Radon Gas?

Radon is a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas that contains radioactive particles that are linked to lung cancer resulting in approximately 21,000 deaths per year nationwide.  This is more than the deaths caused by drunk driving.

What about radon gas in our area?

  • Brown County average is 8.0 pCi/L
  • Redwood County averages 7.5 pCi/L
  • Watonwan County averages 7.0 pCi/L
  • Blue Earth County averages 6.5 pCi/L
  • Nicollet County averages 6.7 pCi/L
  • Cottonwood County averages 7.6 pCi/L
  • Renville County averages 8.4 pCi/L
  • Sibley County averages 7.2 pCi/L

The national indoor average for homes is 1.3 pCi/L.  Obviously we are at a greater risk in our area.  It would be wise to you to know your family's situation.

Radon Gas Inspection--what can you expect
?

Following the signing and purchase of the radon gas inspection agreement, our certified inspector will perform a radon inspection for your house, including setting up a continual monitoring device like the picture to the right. The machine is normally left in your home for 48-60 hours.

Following the completion of the testing, we will provide you with a report of your home's radon levels, highs and lows as well as average.  Several factors can influence your radon level readings.  After the test results have been analyzed, we will consult with you as to what action, if any, you should proceed with. The EPA has established a suggested action level of 4.0 pCi/L.
How much does it cost?

The cost for a stand alone radon inspection and testing is normally $100. When coupled with a house inspection, our radon testing fee is $75.

We take checks (made payable to:
Cornerstone Home Inspection Services, LLC), cash, and credit/debit cards. We thank you in advance for having your payment ready the day of the inspection. The inspection report will not be sent until payment is made in full.
